Came across this song in many Orkut profiles and blogs on republic day. Being an Indian I am ashamed to say I didn’t knew that such a song exists :( . Glad I know it now. Felt nostalgic when I watched this video.

Every NRI who watched the video would feel “kash meh vaha hota (Wish I was there)”. For a second I wished I was in the beautiful diverse country. India is like a beautiful wedding bride dressed up in sari with perfect set of ornaments, bringing out the overall traditional look with a shy smile. The bride is a perfect beauty package. With different languages, wide range of food and mixture of cultures, India is indeed a beautiful bride and an engraved piece of art.

Coming back to the video , first of all I was very disappointed that Taj Mahal was not shown anywhere in the longest lengthy video. Come on India stands out because of the famous architecture and yet they choose not to include that. Beauty of Rajasthan and Jaipur the “pink City” was not shown anywhere too. I may sound biased here but was expecting a better part when telugu language’s part came in. Hyderabad is known as “Pearls City” and Charminar is a well known icon for it but yet they choose not to include it. All I saw was Mahesh babu‘s two minutes guest entry with no backdrop that emphasize that we are from a particular city. When a malayalee can highlight the beauty of “God’s own country” by showing off a back drop of coconut trees, traditional elephants and rivers, When Calcutta bridge is shown to highlight the city, why Hyderabad wasn’t shown anywhere? In the whole of Telugu film industry they could only find Mahesh babu as a right candidate for the video while we have more youth icons like prabhas etc. Well I am not against having Mahesh babu in the video but why only him??Why not few more celebrities??

The video included various celebrities conveying the same message in their respective language. Don’t get me started on the celebrities list now. As usual B’s family is given more importance. Maybe they forgot to include Jaya Bachan or her call sheets were too full. Sheesh. I never liked sallu bhai as a person nor as an actor but he delivered a great piece for the video with less fortunate kids. If only he does more good deeds like this.

Finally our sports man and women are given some chance to enjoy the stardom. When sportsman are given the chance why not our politicians? I am not talking about those who go on a hunger strike and clam to be dying every moment, while they enjoy a big feast far away from the camera’s eyes. Why our great leader Abdul Kalam wasn’t part of the song? They would have been worried that if he is included, rest of the politicians will use that as an excuse and seek for some stardom.

Overall the video and the song are okay. There is lack of Indian feeling due to the western touch given, resulting in a fusion. Since there are reviews that old version gives a better feeling I shall search for that song now.
